In front of George is a section of Liberty Chain. It stretched across the Hudson River in 1776 to prevent the passage of British ships, who were trying to cut the colonies in two. It was hauled from Vermont to the Hudson River near Fort Clinton (which is where West Point is, I think), where the shorts are 1800 feet across. |
